چکیده

Linepithema micans (Forel, 1908) (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) is the main ant species responsible for spreading ground pearl, Eurhizococcus brasiliensis (Wille, 1992) (Hemiptera: Margarodidae). The effect of different formulations hydramethylnon toxic baits (TB) was evaluated on control L. and E. brasiliensis. Four TB were in a greenhouse to micans. Based experiment results, small pellet formulation selected be evaluated, through weekly applications, two vineyards naturally infested by Later, order establish number 1, 3, 6 10 applications season evaluated. bait treatments compared with ants pearls counted one area free drench application thiamethoxam. Hydramethylnon (0.5%) (SP) large (LP) most efficient control. SP TB, applied six times during vine cycle, effectively micans, reducing 100% population, as well brasiliensis, 99.9% scale population plants.

Ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) in Vineyards That Are Infested or Uninfested With Eurhizococcus brasiliensis (Hemiptera: Margarodidae) in Southeastern Brazil

The association between ants and mealybugs can result in damage to agriculture, including vineyards. In southern Brazil, the ant Linepithema micans F. contributes to the dispersal of Eurhizococcus brasiliensis (Wille) (ground pearl), a root mealybug that can lead to economic losses. In this study, the ant communities in vineyards that were infested or uninfested with ground pearls were evaluate...

Chemical composition of ground pearl (Eurhizococcus colombianus) cysts.

Ground pearl (Eurhizococcus colombianus) is a crop pest in Colombia, with special impact on fig, grass, rubus and tomato plants. The insect is resistant to external insecticide application because it produces a thick waxy shell that isolates it from the environment. The composition of this shell was determined by NMR and MS as a triglyceride, whose fatty acid is transformed into other products ...

ECOLOGY AND BEHAVIOR Foraging Activity and Seasonal Food Preference of Linepithema micans (Hymenoptera: Formicidae), a Species Associated With the Spread of Eurhizococcus brasiliensis (Hemiptera: Margarodidae)

Linepithema micans (Forel) (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) is the main ant species responsible for the spread of Eurhizococcus brasiliensis (Wille) (Hemiptera: Margarodidae), a soil scale that damages vine plants in southern Brazil. The daily foraging activity of L. micans and its seasonal preference for proteinand carbohydrate-based foods were evaluated. The study was carried out in a greenhouse usi...

Detrimental effects of highly efficient interference competition: invasive Argentine ants outcompete native ants at toxic baits.

The Argentine ant (Linepithema humile) is an invasive species that disrupts the balance of natural ecosystems by displacing indigenous ant species throughout its introduced range. Previous studies that examined the mechanisms by which Argentine ants attain ecological dominance showed that superior interference and exploitation competition are key to the successful displacement of native ant spe...
